Positive Checklist

Some positive things I've done for my health and happiness lately:
  • Cooking and eating more whole foods and less processed junk which has helped me narrow down some sensitivities, especially mono and diglycerides, soy lecithin, and MSG all containing soy.   Because I've been feeling better eating real food I really notice it when one of those things sneak in, like they did during Thanksgiving dinner.
  • Walking a few times a week.
  • Bought a new mattress in the quest for better sleep.  I think the mattress is better than what we had, but it hasn't eliminated my sore back and waking up feeling very stiff and sore.  That was a disappointment, and I'm not sure if I should keep trying mattresses or accept the fact that, at this weight, I'm always sore and stiff.
  • Ordered progesterone and am really hoping it makes a difference.  I'll let you know!
  • Started taking vitamin D.  It's that time of year.
  • Reaching out to friends a little bit more.
  • Counting my blessings a little bit more.
  • Giving myself props for positive action, as in this list.
  • Making space for healing by filtering out some of the "noise" that has been distracting and irritating me.  More specifically, taking a break from Facebook.  I've been feeling very sensitive this Fall, and I needed to put some filters up to keep from taking in energy that works against me.
  • Getting dressed, including putting on shoes in the morning.
  • Saying, "No," when I need to.
  • Saying, "Yes," when it is good for me to do so. (Like accepting social invitations and offers of help.)
  • Working on kind and compassionate self-talk.
I just needed to remind myself that a lot of positive action is taking place.

  2. That's a lot of positive achievements - yay! As for the mattress question, have you considered using additional pillows, for example under your knees or between your legs in side-lying? Cheaper to try than buying another mattress :)

    1. I have considered that, and a body pillow is on my shopping list! I also think I need a new pillow for my head. I am so finicky about my pillow and it's hard to adjust to a new one so I think I use my pillow too long before I switch, but it's time.

    2. I did notice, though, that the last time I weighed this much I had a lot of trouble with hip and back pain in bed. Hip pain hasn't been a problem so far, but my lower back is in bad shape most of the day lately.

    3. I have a tempur pillow for my head, and wouldn't have anything else, now. I also have a natural spelt and hops body pillow, which I got for being pregnant, but I imagine might be very nice any time :D For a bad lower back, sometimes a pillow under your knees if you're on your back helps - it's something I used to recommend for people in relaxation pose at the end of a yoga session :)

    4. I have a tempur-style pillow for my head too, but it's gotten a little thinner than I think I need. I've had it for a while, and it's time for a new one. I like them to have a higher profile than average and have trouble finding that kind of pillow in the size I like. I always stick the blankets between my legs, but a pillow might work better. I toss and turn a lot which has been a problem in the past for keeping a pillow where I like it. I never sleep on my back. Probably because I have a big bottom, but also because it makes my sleep apnea worse. :-P
