Plan B

I stumbled through my weekend and abandoned some of my goals.  Well, abandoned is a strong word.  I ignored them.  I'm back on track this week, though, and I added a new goal for my daily routine.

I remember what a difference taking B vitamins has been for me before, so I decided to start taking them again, along with a couple of others that I have in my cupboard but stopped taking, mostly because I never remember.  I stopped taking the B vitamins because the taste makes me gag a little, but I decided a moment of *gag* is worth the positive effect they have on my mood which could use a little help right now.

Having my phone send me reminders and encouragement via the Lift app is helpful too!

  1. Cool! Great idea with the reminder/tracker thing. We all get off track--and sometimes that can be a good thing. Good work in navigating your way back. For b-vitamins (due to the MTHFR mutation our family has which is an inability to process B-vitamins in the forms most vitamins are in the store, as well as in most foods), we take methylated B-vitamins. It's fascinating and I won't go into it here but you can read about it at mthfr.net. It's a form of B-vitamins that's highly absorbable. I take the sublingual B-12 plus folate one (I only take about half of one a day). The sublingual ones tend to be sweet tasting and non-gaggy.

    1. I do have some sublingual B-12 also, and don't mind the taste of that at all. I wasn't noticing much improvement with it, though, which is why I thought I'd try the B-complex. I'm not noticing a huge improvement with that either yet, but I've only been taking it a week so far. I'm making other gains, though, and maybe the Bs have been supporting that. Interesting stuff, regarding the MTHFR mutation!

  2. Since we moved, I haven't been remembering to take my vits. I think it's because they're no longer in such a visible spot… Might have to try this, or just reorganise the kitchen :/

    Hope you start noticing some positive benefits to the vits. I heard a nutritionist talk a while back, and she said that the vitamin daily dose guidelines are based on avoiding deficiency, rather than achieving an optimal level. So, it might be you need to take them for a while, or take higher doses...

    1. Yes, I've heard that too! If I don't notice any benefit I may visit my naturopath soon and see if there are other things I could be doing. I'm also wondering about my hormones lately.
